Desmond's First Navitiy Play

Desmond's school, Little Chick's Pre-School, put together an adorable nativity play with their three and four year old class.  It was located at the Admaston Methodist Church just two blocks from our home.  We piled into the stroller and walked from our house to the event.

Desmond was a shepherd this year and had to dress the part accordingly.  He really loved his shepherd's staff which he referred to as his "shepart sword".  He was very excited to take pictures.

He was not as excited to be involved in the play.  He did not want to go up on stage, and we almost thought he wouldn't do it.  At the last minute, he saw his friend Molly and sat next to her right before the performance began.  The teacher read the story from a book called "The First Christmas" as each event happened in the story, the teachers assisted the students in acting everything out.

At the end, Desmond and the rest of his class sang the following songs:

1. Away in the Manager
2. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
3.  Jingle Bells
4.  Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney (a local kids classic; click here to hear the song)
5.  We Wish You a Merry Christmas

As shy as Desmond can be sometimes, we were really impressed with how well he did with his part and how he knew every lyric to every song.  He sang every word!

Father Christmas made a surprise appearance at the very end.  He gave every child chocolate.  Sierra asked for Barbies and Desmond asked for a turtle house (we think he meant the Ninja Turtle lair he saw at the local toy store).

Afterwards, families stayed for tea and mince pies. A new tradition for this family! Click here if you want to know more about a mince pie.  We were so proud of Desmond for doing such a great job with his first performance and for making new friends at his new school.
