We visited a surgeon's house with all kinds of antique medicines. The town square was full of antique store fronts with antique goods. The signs posted all over town really give you the feeling that you have stepped out of the present and into the past.
All around the town there are local craftsman. Our favorites were the local carpenters. They use a spindle and a pedal to work the wood. It was impressive to watch them work.
We also happened upon another carpenter of sorts. An elf (Elvis Parsley) had taken up shop in one of the stores and was widdling toys for Christmas.
Sierra and Desmond loved watching the local candlemaker. In the picture below, she is explaining how the dipping of the candles would have been called "a donkey's nod." Each dip into the wax mirroring how a donkey might nod his head. She gave both kids a candle wrapped in old time newspaper.
